Cardiac Anesthesiologist

1. Pre-operative Responsibilities:

• Conduct pre-anesthetic assessment of cardiac patients.
• Evaluate medical history, diagnostic reports (ECG, Echo, angiography, etc.).
• Assess risk factors and optimize patient condition before surgery.
• Explain anesthesia plan and obtain informed consent.

2. Intra-operative Responsibilities:

• Administer general anesthesia for cardiac surgeries (CABG, valve replacement, etc.).
• Monitor vital parameters including ECG, invasive BP, CVP, ABG, and cardiac output.
• Manage advanced monitoring techniques (TEE – Transesophageal Echocardiography).
• Maintain hemodynamic stability throughout the procedure.
• Handle emergencies such as arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, or bleeding.

3. Post-operative Responsibilities:

• Shift patient safely to ICU with proper handover.
• Manage post-operative ventilation and pain control.
• Monitor recovery from anesthesia.
• Participate in ICU rounds for cardiac patients.

4. Clinical & Administrative Duties:

• Maintain accurate anesthesia records and documentation.
• Follow NABH protocols and patient safety standards.
• Ensure infection control practices in OT.
• Participate in audits, clinical meetings, and training programs.
• Guide junior anesthetists, technicians, and nursing staff.
